MARION COUNTY — A 25-year-old Centralia man has been arrested by Salem police in connection with a January home invasion where a Salem resident was reportedly injured.

Devon Gibbs was initially taken into custody Sunday by Centralia police before being transported to the Salem Police Department where he questioned about the incident that occurred at a Marion County Housing Authority Apartment in the 1100 block of North Trenary.

He’s now being held in the Marion County Jail pending a formal decision on charges by the State’s Attorney’s office.

A Salem resident was reportedly injured when an intruder entered their home January 29 while everyone was sleeping and the resident home was allegedly cut on the arm by the intruder.

The victim reportedly told police he woke up when hearing the back door open.

He then saw the two men enter his downstairs room where he was cut in the arm with an unknown object. The two then exited the back door and fled on foot.

The resident reportedly refused treatment for the injury.

The suspect had already left the area before police arrived.
