WASHINGTON COUNTY — A Tuesday autopsy in O’Fallon has concluded that a 71-year-old Ashley man found dead in his home Sunday was the victim of a homicide.

Washington County authorities have identified the man as David Woodrome.

A friend reportedly found Woodrome dead Sunday afternoon in his home in the 300 block of East White Street in Ashley.

The friend had reportedly gone to check on the man after not seeing him for more than three days at a local business he frequented.

Washington County authorities responded to the scene and the coroner pronounced Woodrome dead at 1:32 p.m. Sunday at the scene.

Woodrome’s death was declared suspicious at that time and an autopsy was ordered.

The investigation into his death has now become a homicide investigation and is ongoing.
