MARION COUNTY — A 30-year-old Centralia man arrested for alleged criminal sexual assault of a young girl has been released from the Marion County Jail after the Marion County State’s Attorney’s Office asked police to continue the investigation.

Centralia police arrested Zachery Maltman at his home Thursday following an investigation by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services showing an alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl on January 14 at a family member’s home.

Maltman was also arrested on an outstanding Clinton County warrant for failure to appear on a traffic case. He was subsequently taken to the Clinton County Jail where he remained Sunday.
