SALEM — A Salem resident was reportedly injured Tuesday morning when around 6:30 a.m., intruders entered their home while everyone was sleeping.

Salem police have released additional information into the investigation of the reported home invasion.

They say an 18-year-old male resident of a Marion County Housing Authority apartment on North Trenary was cut on the arm by the intruder.

The victim reported hearing the back door of the apartment open and then seeing two men enter a room downstairs where he was cut on the arm by an unknown object.

The two intruders then reportedly fled through the backdoor. The victim refused treatment for his injury and could not provide a description of the two male intruders.

Four other people were asleep in the home at the time of the incident. They told police the back door to the home was locked but officers did not find signs of forced entry.

Approximately an hour earlier, police responded to the same address on a report of criminal trespass when someone had reportedly entered the residence. That suspect was also gone before police arrived.
