MT. VERNON — The 2020 census is right around the corner, and Mt. Vernon city officials are urging residents to make sure they are counted. The census bureau will be sending out postcards in March, but city leaders are making sure residents are informed on how important the census is to the community.

Lori Ulrich is the city of Mt. Vernon’s census liaison. She says the census touches almost every aspect of a person’s life.

This year, residents can either take the census online or a paper form through the mail. Ulrich says for those concerned with their privacy, the census treats the privacy of everyone seriously.

If you have any other questions about the census, you can call Ulrich at Mt. Vernon City Hall, the Jefferson County Health Department, or Reverend Erie Patton.
