MT. VERNON — Mt. Vernon’s post office relocation continues to progress as the city and the U.S.P.S. are narrowing down the final details of the new building to be constructed at the corner of 10th and Jordan.

Mt. Vernon City Manager Mary Ellen Bechtel says she hopes the council can award the project at the second council meeting in February with the project being completed by August. She says when it comes to the Park Plaza building, Milano Metals is getting their initial plans done for when the building comes down.

Bechtel says after a scheduled August completion, city officials hope to get the post office moved into the new building by September.
