JEFFERSON COUNTY — Jefferson County emergency crews were busy as two traffic incidents stalled traffic on local interstates Thursday.

Thursday morning, Jefferson Fire Protection District responded to a tractor trailer that overturned and blocked the westbound lanes of I-64 at mile marker 89 near Opdyke. The interstate was closed for a few hours and westbound traffic was diverted off at the Belle Rive exit.

Then Thursday afternoon, as traffic was backing up because of construction near Ina, JFPD responded to a call of a pickup truck on fire near mile marker 88 on I-57 southbound just south of Mt. Vernon. Fire personnel says the truck, an attached trailer, and nearby grass were all on fire from the incident.

There were no reports of injuries from either incident.
