WASHINGTON, D.C. (RFD) — US Senator Dick Durbin is backing a new trade deal between the US, Mexico and Canada.
Today the senator says he was skeptical of a revised NAFTA after he watched some jobs in Illinois disappear when the original trade deal was passed more than two decades ago. But now, Durbin says, the renegotiated agreement known as USMCA will be good for Illinois manufacturers and farmers.
Durbin says the deal is far from perfect but he notes that most agriculture, manufacturing and union groups in Illinois support it.
