SPRINGFIELD, IL — As lawmakers return to work at the state capitol this week another scandal is brewing over a connected lobbyist for political favors. A July 2012 email shows that a once powerful lobbyist, Mike McClain, emailed the former Governor Pat Quinn’s administration seeking a favor for a state employee.

The email, sent to two top aides to the Governor, is seeking leniency for a corrections worker facing disciplinary action. In the email, McClain urges restraint in the case because the worker “has kept his mouth shut about ghost workers and a rape in Champaign”.

Republican State Representative Terri Bryant says the indictments will be forthcoming for all those involved in this scandal.

Quinn’s staffers never replied to the email but the workers disciplinary case was postponed. McClain is already under federal investigation and was a close confident of Speaker of the House Mike Madigan.
