BENTON, IL — A male juvenile has been charged with burglary and theft and could face additional charges pending an investigation by Benton Police after officers were sent to the 1100 block of Fairland Street for a report of shots fired around 7:30 Monday morning.
According to a Benton Police report, it was alleged that a juvenile fired a shot from a handgun when confronted by the owner of a vehicle the juvenile was actively stealing items from.
The juvenile was taken into custody and questioned. A firearm was seized during a search of the juvenile’s home. No injuries were reported.
The juvenile was lodged in the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center.
