MT. VERNON — The city of Mt. Vernon welcomed three new police officers to the force Thursday morning. Brylan Morlan, Jacob Robinson, and Cory Volz were all sworn in as Mt. Vernon City Police Officers at a ceremony in the city council chambers at Mt. Vernon City Hall.

Mt. Vernon Police Chief Trent Page says the event Thursday is a major milestone for each young man.

Each officer will now be sent to the police academy for 14 weeks before they then start field training for another 14 weeks. Page says they will likely be through their training and serving the people of Mt. Vernon in late summer.
