Janet Sue Byars

Janet Sue Byars, 75, of Texico, passed away at 2:55 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at St. Louis University Hospital, in St. Louis.

She was born December 3, 1944, in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Donald W. and Ruth A. (Foreman) Dalby.  On October 7, 1966, at Hopewell Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon, she married Charles Edgar Byars, and he survives in Texico.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Mark Alan Byars and wife Rebecca (Gibbs) of McLeansboro;  five grandchildren, Tyler, Brooklyn, Savannah, Mariah, and Bailey Byars, all of McLeansboro;  two sisters, Judith (Dalby) Williams of Mt. Vernon, and Joyce (Dalby) Richardson of Mt. Vernon;  brother-and-sister-in-law Lavern and Betty Austin; and sister-in-law Sheila Byars.

She was preceded in death by her parents;  and three brothers-in-law, Norman Williams, Kenneth Richardson, and Henry Byars.

Mrs. Byars attended Hopewell Grade School and Field Grade School, and graduated from Mt. Vernon Townhip High School in 1962.  She worked as a bookkeeper and teller at Security Bank in Mt. Vernon.  She was a member of Panther Fork Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Byars will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 15, at Panther Fork Missionary Baptist Church, in Texico, with Rev. John Ashby officiating.  Burial will follow at Panther Fork Cemetery.   Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2019, at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix.
