ILLINOIS (RFD) — The first firearm deer hunt numbers were down statewide. That’s according to DNR Spokesperson Rachel Torbert. She notes several factors could be at play.
The first firearm season wasn’t without incidents in the fields. Torbert says they had reports of hunters falling from tree stands and accidental shootings.
Jefferson County saw 1,251 deer taken the first firearm season this year compared to 1,334 last year.
The second and final firearm season runs today through Sunday.
