Illinois ranks as one of the least financially-transparent states in the nation

ILLINOIS (IRN) — Illinois ranks as one of the least financially-transparent states in the nation. That’s according to a new report that places the state among the bottom ten. Sheila Weinberg, with Truth In Accounting, says Illinois is marked down for the late delivery of its annual documents…

The organization measures each state’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report against a framework of best practices. Weinberg says Illinois also fails to have an external auditor.

Idaho, North Dakota and Nevada ranked at the top of this year’s report, while Connecticut was listed at number 50.
