Reward Offered for Information About Break-In, Vandalism at Mt. Vernon Day Care

MT. VERNON — Jefferson County Crimestoppers is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest of those involved in a break-in and vandalism this week at a Kingdom Kids at 500 Harrison Street in Mt. Vernon. The incident has been named the “Crime of the Week” by Crimestoppers.

According to police, earlier this week, the building was broken into and extensive damage was caused to multiple areas of the building.

Damage is estimated at $50,000 including broken windows, destroyed cribs, toys thrown all over the place, and profane graffiti.

Mt. Vernon police responded to the scene Thursday morning with crime scene services also responding.

The Crimestoppers and Mt Vernon Police Department are asking anyone with information to contact the police department at 242-2131 or Crimestoppers at 242-8477. Information leading to an arrest may result in a cash reward. You may remain anonymous.
