WHITE COUNTY — Two people were sentenced in White County Wednesday to the Illinois Department of Corrections on various charges.

White County State’s Attorney Denton Aud says 19-year-old Joseph D. Tate was sentenced to 15 years in IDOC for predatory criminal sexual assault of a child – a Class X Felony.

Aud says Tate was found guilty of committing sexual penetration of a child under the age of 13. He will have to serve a minimum of 85 percent of the sentence and will be on mandatory supervised release for a period ranging between 3 years and the rest of life.

Tate’s case was investigated by the Carmi Police Department. Public Defender Brian Shinkle represented Tate. Judge T. Scott Webb was the presiding judge.

Thirty-six-year-old Jedediah J. Locher (locker) of Crossville was sentenced to 6 years in IDOC for possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver – a Class 2 felony. He will serve two years of mandatory supervised release when he is released from prison.

Locher’s case was investigated by the Crossville Police Department and White County Sheriff’s Department. Locher was represented by Public Defender Rhonda Blades. Judge T. Scott Webb was the presiding judge.
