MARION, IL — The Marion City Council approved a resolution at Tuesday night’s meeting to commit local funds to improvements that are needed at the intersection of Williamson County Parkway and 17th Street.
Cody Moake, who is Marion Mayor Mike Absher’s Chief of Staff, says currently those traveling north on Williamson County Parkway to turn West on 17th Street do not have a clear line of vision for oncoming traffic. That intersection will be upgraded and widened a bit to make the necessary changes.
The city will commit to appropriating available city funds of 20 percent of the cost of that work. Eighty percent will be funded through state roadway improvement funds.
