CLINTON COUNTY — Clinton County State’s Attorney John Hudspeth’s announcement to not run for re-election Tuesday was quickly followed by a candidacy announcement by current Assistant State’s Attorney David Fields.

Fields says he is running as a Republican in 2020 for the seat being vacated by John Hudspeth in Clinton County.

Fields has worked since 2015 as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Macon County, and interned with the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.

He says he has gained a tremendous amount of experience in the past 10 years to prepare him to serve as State’s Attorney in Clinton County.

He and his wife live in Damiansville with their three children. Fields says they chose to make their Clinton County home and raise their children.
