MAN TOTALS VEHICLE AS HE FLEES FROM CENTRALIA POLICE

CENTRALIA, IL — Dylan Starr was charged Tuesday morning in Marion County Court with Class 4 felony aggravated fleeing police and Class 3 felony criminal damage of government property, along with almost a half-dozen traffic violations in connection with the Monday pursuit.

According to Centralia Police Lt. Greg Dodson, an officer reportedly spotted Starr driving Monday and knowing his license was revoked attempted a traffic stop. Starr allegedly sped away immediately.

Dodson says around Broadway and Chestnut Starr came to a rolling stop and two passengers jumped from the vehicle. They were unharmed and were not criminally charged.

The pursuit continued north into Central City where Starr turned onto Green Street and then onto Farthing Road where he reportedly crashed through barricades that had been placed there by the township.

The chase ultimately ended when Starr crashed the vehicle he was driving into a cornfield. The vehicle, which apparently did not belong to Starr, was reportedly totaled.

Starr was taken into custody without further incident and was transported to the Marion County Jail. He was free at the time of his arrest on a $75,000 recognizance bond posted in September on a Class 2 charge of possessing less than 15 grams of methamphetamine.

Starr was released in August from the Illinois Department of Corrections after serving a sentence on a 2018 conviction in Marion County for aggravated fleeing and eluding police.
