SALEM — Salem police are reporting an early Friday morning shooting that sent a 22-year-old Centralia man to a St. Louis area hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

According to Salem Police Chief Sean Reynolds, officers responded around 1:36 a.m. to the Salem Township Hospital on a report of a victim in the Emergency Room with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Officers met with Cole J.G. Childress in the ER and report he was uncooperative with the investigation and would not give details as to how he was allegedly shot, who the shooter was, or where the incident took place.

Salem Officers also spoke with 41-year-old Jenny Moore, also of Centralia, who allegedly was with Childress and was waiting outside in a vehicle when the incident was to have occurred.

Moore, who had driven Childress to the hospital for treatment, was also unable to assist officers with information on where the incident occurred.

At last report, Childress had been transported to a St. Louis area hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg.
