HARDIN COUNTY — IDOT says there will be a road closure on Illinois 34 in Hardin County starting Friday.

The road closure is necessary so an existing box culvert located four  miles from the Illinois 34/146 intersection can be replaced.

A contractor will reduce Illinois 34 to one lane to begin removal of the existing box culvert at 7 a.m. At 6 p.m., the road will be closed until 6 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4 in order to replace the entire box culvert.

The project consists of box culvert replacement, pavement replacement and pavement markings.

Motorists should reduce speed, be alert to equipment and workers, use extreme caution while traveling through all work zones and use alternate routes during the temporary road closure.
