JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 31-year-old Ina man pleaded guilty Tuesday in Jefferson County court to multiple counts of more than a dozen child pornography charges against him.

Paul Grider has been held in the Jefferson County with bail set at $1 million since his July arrest on 16 Class 2 felony counts of possessing child pornography.

He pleaded guilty Tuesday to nine of the 16 counts, with each Class 2 count is punishable by between 2 and 7 years in prison.

Grider’s arrest came as the result of an investigation the sheriff’s office launched over the summer into his possible possession of child pornography.

As investigators from the sheriff’s office and Ina Police Department assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force worked the case it led them to serve a search warrant at 403 S. Main Street in Ina.

The subsequent search of the residence developed further evidence and led to the arrest Grider’s arrest.

The guilty plea comes after Grider had waived his right to a speedy trial at his last hearing and the matter appeared to be headed for a January 14, 2020, jury trial.

Following Tuesday’s plea, a presentencing report was ordered and Grider was remanded back to the county jail. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
