SALEM, IL — Salem police arrested a 29-year-old Central City man Saturday night on multiple warrants and a new charge of possessing meth.

Andrew Sloat was arrested after police received information regarding his whereabouts and located him at a home in the 200 block of North College Street.

Sloat reportedly attempted to run from officers when they arrived at the Salem home. He was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant from Clinton County for failure to appear on a misdemeanor theft case and one from the Illinois Department of Corrections.

He was formally charged Monday in Marion County court with Class 3 felony possession of less than 5-grams of meth. Bail in that case remains to be set.
