JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 36-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been sentenced to 30 months in prison after a Jefferson County jury this summer found him guilty of residential arson.

Perice Ladd was given credit Friday for 238 days already served in the Jefferson County Jail since his October 2018 arrest in connection with a suspicious fire to a home in the 1300 block of South 26th in Mt. Vernon.

Ladd was arrested along with Equinton Wilks. Charges against Wilks were ultimately dismissed. After more than three days of testimony, the jury took just over an hour to return a unanimous verdict of “guilty” against Ladd.

In addition to the two-and-a-half year prison sentence, Ladd will have to pay restitution.
