MARION COUNTY — Autopsy results conducted on a 67-year-old woman who died after being pulled from a fire at her home in the 200 block of South Vincent in Salem Tuesday were inconclusive.

Suzanne Stewart was apparently overcome by smoke when attempting to flee a fire in the home. Her 67-year-old husband Rodney Stewart was able to pull her from the home and start CPR until first responders arrived and took over. She was ultimately transported by ambulance to Salem Township Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Toxicology and microscopic testing remains to be completed and should give a more definitive answer to the cause of her death. Her husband was treated at the scene.

Fire officials say the fire apparently started on a countertop between the kitchen and dining area but an exact cause has not yet been determined. The fire is not considered to be suspicious.
