CARBONDALE, IL — Teachers in Carbondale won’t be going on strike after they reached a tentative deal with the Carbondale School District 95 School Board Tuesday night.

The Carbondale Education Association was set to go on strike as early as Friday if an agreement was not reached. The union hopes teachers and the school board will vote to ratify the agreement soon.

The school district includes Parrish, Thomas and Lewis Elementary Schools, as well as Carbondale Middle School.

The Carbondale Education Association includes 136 teachers, social workers, and other licensed professionals.

Details about the tentative agreement were not released.
