CENTRALIA, IL — Fallout continues in an apparent feud between a Centralia street gang and members of a Centralia family when two men reportedly fired shots at each other Wednesday night near Haussler and Lincoln streets.
According to police reports, no one was injured but a nearby mobile home that was occupied at the time was struck by gunfire. An occupant of the home reportedly called officers back to the location Thursday when a bullet was found in a toilet in the home.
Multiple shell casings were found Wednesday in the street where the two men stood about 75 yards apart and fired shots at one another.
A Centralia police officer patrolling in the area when the shots were fired responded to the location but said both men had left before he arrived. Police say no one in the area reported seeing anything but the public is encouraged to contact the Centralia Police Department if you were a witness.
The incident was reportedly between the Rude Boys street gang and the Morning family and was just the latest in a string of incidents involving those two groups.
Earlier in the week a vehicle believed to belong to the Morning family was apparently struck by gunfire as it was traveling through the 500 to 600 block of East Kerr in Centralia.
Last month a 15-year-old boy who was a reported member of the Rude Boys was severely beaten on a Centralia street, allegedly by members of the Morning family.
