WEST FRANKFORT — It seems the Frankfort Community Unit School District #168 is making some plans regarding Frankfort Community High School.
At Monday night’s school board meeting, board members heard a presentation from Baysinger Architects and approved a request to commission a programming study for master planning of future potential renovation, addition and construction of Frankfort Community High School facilities. This is being done in order to study the needs and wants for high school educational facilities as the school board looks at options for current facilities and renovations and additions to it so the school district is positioned for potential state capital funds when the application process opens in the spring.
The board also heard a presentation from Supt. Matt Donkin on the Evidence-Based Funding Spending Plan and authorized him to submit it to the state and approved a memorandum of understanding with the Regional Office of Education – Project ECHO/STAR Quest Academy Regional Safe School regarding enrollment fees.
In other business, the 2019-20 annual budget, the proposal for Prom 2020 to be held at the Herrin Civic Center and the field trip to Europe for FCHS students in June 2020 were all approved. The board also approved salary adjustments for district building and OSE administrators and non-certified support staff at the Administrative Service Center and for staff nurse positions. It also approved the compensations levels retroactive to Sept. 9 for chaperones at $12 an hour, substitute teachers at $100 a day and substitute non-certified support staff at $10.50 an hour. Tim Glodich and Matt Weeks were hired and approved as assistant boys’ basketball coaches for 2019-20. Rental policies for district facilities were also approved. And Connie Kirk was re-classified to a position as chaperone for at least three hours a day to include duties as library assistant at Denning Elementary School.
