Bail Set at $200k for Centralia Man Facing Additional Meth Charges

MARION COUNTY — Bail has been set at $200,000 for a 52-year-old Centralia man arrested on new meth-related charges stemming from the execution of a search warrant at his home in August.

Charles Hays was charged in August with Class 3 felony theft and Class 4 possession of a controlled substance after police reportedly found Oxycontin at his home during the August search, along with a motorcycle that had been reported as stolen from Wamac.

He posted $500 cash bond at that time and was released. Hays was then arrested on new charges after Centralia police reportedly found 10 counterfeit $100 bills, 28.9 grams of methamphetamine, 63 tablets of Ecstasy, 7.5 pounds of cannabis, and a loaded gun in his bedroom.

Police also reportedly located a surveillance system in the home as well as cannabis being grown in the basement of Hays’ home.

He was formally charged in Marion County court Wednesday with Class X felony delivery of between 15 and 100 grams of meth, Class 1 felony possession of between 15 and 100 grams of meth and Class 3 felony being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Both cases are now scheduled for October 8 preliminary hearings and first appearances with Hays’ court appointed attorney.

The August 23rd search of Hays’ Seventh Street home was conducted by the Centralia Police High Risk Team, the FBI Task Force and Marion County Sheriff’s Department.
