WHITE COUNTY — A woman reportedly caused some trouble in Carmi and McLeansboro late Friday night into early Saturday morning.

According to a Carmi Police report, 45-year-old Anessa Dawn Barnett of O’Fallon, Illinois was arrested for disorderly conduct, criminal trespass to property and resisting a peace officer after police were called about an intoxicated person walking around in the 300 block of 5th Street around 10:15 Friday night.

Barnett was taken to the White County Jail where she later posted bond and was released.

Then around 2:30 Saturday morning, a McLeansboro Police officer responded to a report of a suspicious woman that was refusing to leave 609 S. Marshall. While attempting to locate her, another call came in about a woman at 902 Circle Drive causing a disturbance and refusing to leave.

The officer made contact with the same Anessa Barnett from the Carmi incident, who refused to cooperate with the McLeansboro officer. A signed complaint was obtained for disorderly conduct. While attempting to take Barnett into custody, she struck the officer and refused the officer’s command.

Barnett was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and aggravated battery of a police officer. She was taken to the White County Jail.

In the McLeansboro Police report, it said Barnett was from Hernando, Florida and was homeless. McLeansboro Police Chief John Taylor says Barnett had a Florida ID, but told officers she had been living in O’Fallon. Barnett could not provide an actual address for O’Fallon to officers. That’s when Barnett told them she was homeless.
