Woodlawn man arrested after standoff with police on a Woodlawn apartment building

MT. VERNON, IL — A 36-year-old Woodlawn man is in the Jefferson County Jail following a standoff Saturday night on the roof of a Woodlawn apartment building.

Daniel Tietsort was arrested without further incident Saturday night after he initially refused to come off the roof of the two-story Green Street Apartment complex while armed with a knife.

After three hours on the roof Tietsort surrendered peacefully and deputies, using equipment from the Mt Vernon Fire Department, got him safely to the ground where he was then transported to a local hospital.

Deputies initially went to the apartment complex to locate Tietsort who was wanted on outstanding warrants for failure to appear on a meth-related cases in Clinton County and local charges of obstructing a peace officer.

The Mt. Vernon Police Department, Woodlawn Fire Department, Illinois State Police, and Littons Ambance also provided assistance during the standoff.
