FAYETTE COUNTY — Attorney’s in a Fayette County case accusing a 50-year-old Vandalia man of attempted murder of his wife will meet Wednesday to discuss matters as they head toward a jury trial later this month.
Gregory M. Hill was arrested and charged in 2017 with Class X felony attempted murder for allegedly throwing his wife to the floor and causing her a spinal injury with the intent of killing her.
Heather Hill’s primary care physician and medical director at the nursing home where she now lives has testified in court that she is now a quadriplegic and is bed bound.
Dr. John Opilka says Heather Hill does not tolerate being in a wheelchair due to pain and her injuries and having to appear in court would cause her great anxiety and require a nurse to tend to her at all times.
Judge Kevin Parker indicated at a court hearing last week that he would make an electronic entry of his ruling and the parties would discuss that ruling and take care of other matters during Wednesday’s phone conference. Jury trial in the matter remains set for September 23.
