CARMI — A Carmi man was arrested Friday on a White County warrant for predatory criminal sexual assault of a child under the age of 13.

Carmi Police Chief Jason Carter says around 7:30 p.m., dispatch alerted police that 19-year-old Joseph Tate had come back to his home in the 600 block of Oak Street where officers had been earlier to arrest Tate on the warrant. The warrant stems from a Carmi Police Department investigation that was reported in May. Police went to the home and advised Tate of the warrant.

Tate was taken into custody without incident. He was taken to the White County Jail where he was held pending the posting of bond.
