CENTRALIA/INA, IL — Local law enforcement officials are investigating the discoveries of two dead bodies found in separate locations in the past few days.

Around 4:22 p.m. Tuesday, Centralia police received a report of a deceased individual that had been located in a vacant residence. Officers responded and located an unidentified deceased subject inside the residence. Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigators were called to process the scene.

On Sunday morning the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a possible body found in an area south of Ina. Deputies and detectives responded to the scene where the body of a deceased person was located. The Jefferson County Coroner and Illinois State Police CSI were then called to the location to assist in the investigation. Foul play is not expected at this time.

Both investigations are ongoing and the identities of the deceased are being withheld pending death notification.
