MT. VERNON — The Mt. Vernon City Council approved bids for multiple city projects at Monday night’s city council meeting.

The council approved the engineering bids for the 26th Street reconstruction project near Veteran’s Park and for the 44th Street Extension project to Heritage Street. The two projects combined will cost just over $440,000 for engineering.

Also approved Monday were bids to paint the Rolland Lewis Community Building and the Casey Middle School Pedestrian Bridge. The pedestrian bridge will cost the city about $243,000 while the Rolland Lewis Building painting will cost the city just under $18,000. The city also approved a bid to pave the parking lot at Brennan Klein Field for just over $108,000.

The council also gave the city manager permission to seek bids on multiple other items, including for multiple storm sewer replacement projects around the city.  They will reconvene again on Monday, August 19th at 7 p.m. at the Rolland Lewis Building at Veteran’s Park.
