CARMI — Two Carmi residents are facing drug charges after Carmi Police responded just after 8 Tuesday morning to 704 Beck Street on request from Illinois Department of Corrections parole agents who were performing a parole search on 27-year-old Levi Williams.
According to a Carmi Police report, agents found illegal drug items. A field test on one of the items resulted in a positive indication of methamphetamine. Williams along with 31-year-old Tara L. Keown were arrested at that time.
A search warrant was granted by a judge and Carmi Police searched the home. Officers found scales, meth pipes and a corner baggy. Just over 46 grams of a liquid that tested positive for having meth in it was also found.
Williams and Keown were charged with possession of meth and paraphernalia. They were taken to the White County Jail. Bond was not set according to the police report.
Court records show Williams and Keown were scheduled for a first appearance Wednesday in White County. They both have a bail review set for Aug. 7 at 9:30 a.m. and a preliminary hearing set for Aug. 28 at 10 a.m.
