ALTON (RFD) — Governor JB Pritzker is asking for more time from federal officials to produce key paperwork in the request for a federal disaster declaration in connection with floods that have impacted much of the state. In a visit to Alton, the Governor noted there’s been some progress in the request for more time.
Pritzker said a key reason for the 30 day extension request is that flood fighting, dewatering activities and emergency protective measures are still ongoing in some areas of the State. There are also areas of the state that remain inaccessible to residents. Pritzker says those areas need to return to normal so state officials can get a full accounting of flood damage.
