CENTRALIA — Details have been made available in the arrest in Centralia Friday of a 20-year-old Danville man wanted on a $5 million warrant out of Vermillion County for first-degree murder.

Tariq C. Wilson was wanted for the April 24 shooting of Roosevelt Anderson Jr. on a Danville street. Anderson was taken to a Danville area hospital where he died of a gunshot wound to the head.

A witness told police there was a physical altercation between several men before Anderson Jr. was shot.

Prosecutors say Wilson is one of four people charged with first-degree murder for Anderson’s death.

However, they say Wilson, who is a reputed member of the Rude Boys street gang, is charged under an accountability theory and one of the other three is believed to be the man who fired the single fatal gunshot wound to the head.

A warrant was subsequently issued in April for Wilson’s arrest and on Friday Centralia police officers along with members of the US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force arrested him in Centralia.

He was taken to the Marion County Jail where he is currently awaiting extradition back to Vermilion County.

The three others charged in the case have also been arrested and include 22-year-old Tavares A. Mitchell, 26-year-old Percy L. Freeman and 21-year-old Denzel Aldridge.
