CENTRALIA — The U.S. Marshall’s Service was in Centralia Friday, assisting Centralia police in the apprehension of a 20-year-old fugitive wanted for first-degree homicide in Vermillion County, Illinois.

A reputed member of the Rude Boys street gang, Tariq Wilson was arrested Friday morning on a $5 million warrant for alleged first-degree murder in Danville.

According to Centralia Police Lt. Greg Dodson, officers had been attempting to locate and arrest Wilson on the warrant for the last few months. TheY caught up with him Friday at a residence in the 100 block of Marilyn Avenue in Centralia.

Wilson was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail to await extradition or transport back to Vermillion County.

Dodson says 25-year-old Taylor Wand was also arrested at the residence and taken to the Marion County Jail for alleged obstruction of justice, resisting, and harboring a fugitive.

Details on Wilson’s charges in Vermillion County were not immediately available.
