MCLEANSBORO — A McLeansboro man is facing charges after McLeansboro Police officers were sent to Hamilton Memorial Hospital around 2 Thursday afternoon to speak with a woman that had been allegedly stabbed in the foot with an ink pen.

McLeansboro Police Chief John Taylor says after officers arrived, they saw the injury and received a signed probable cause complaint for domestic battery along with a statement against 37-year-old Nathan W. Irby.

Officers then made contact with Irby at his home in McLeansboro. During the investigation officers located a pen possibly used in the stabbing along with items containing methamphetamine. Irby was taken into custody for domestic battery and possession of methamphetamine.

Irby is awaiting bond being set by a judge and was transported to White County Jail.
