CENTRALIA — Centralia City firefighters responded late Thursday night to almost simultaneous fires in the 600 block of South Locust and at 15th and South Elm, with their efforts hampered on the South Locust call by a broken water main.
The first call came in around 11 p.m. for the 15th and South Elm fire. The second call, on South Locust came in about 15 minutes later.
Reports say the South Locust structure was used for storage. A broken water main forced firefighters to rerun their lines to a hydrant a block from the scene.
The South Elm location was a home that was being remodeled. Upon their arrival, firefighters found flames coming out of the windows of two rooms. They were able to quickly knock down the flames.
Centralia Fire Protection District and Sandoval FPD responded for mutual aid.
