INA, IL — Illinois State Police say improper passing and rainy conditions caused a three-vehicle crash just before 2pm Tuesday afternoon on northbound I-57 in Ina.

According to Illinois State Police, a 2018 Dodge, driven by 42-year-old Pearl Middleton of Statesboro, Georgia, was heading north on I-57 near milepost 84 when she attempted to change lanes and struck a 2016 Volvo driven by 62-year-old Dennis Grammer of Peru, Indiana.

Grammer attempted to slow up after begin struck by Middleton’s vehicle. Another vehicle, a 2004 Buick driven by 25-year-old Cheyenne Kinsley of Lebanon, Missouri, was unable to stop and rear-ended Grammer’s vehicle.

Middleton and her two passengers, 20-year-old Hailey Orbik of Pensacola, Florida, and 19-year-old Georgia Dowdy of Magnolia, Texas, suffered non-life threatening injuries. Grammer was not injured. Kinsely also suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Everyone involved was wearing seat belts. ISP did not say if anyone was taken to local hospitals for treatment.

Charges of driving too fast for conditions were filed. ISP did not say who was charged in the press release.
