SALINE COUNTY — Two Harrisburg men are facing gun-related charges after Saline County Central Dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting shots being fired in the 1000 block of Dorris Street in Harrisburg Tuesday afternoon.

 

According to a post on the Harrisburg Police Department Facebook page, police learned from dispatchers that two males were seen firing guns in front of a home located at 1018 Dorris Street. Officers responded to the scene. Once the scene was secured, several attempts were made to contact the men inside the home by a loud speaker. Officers talked one man – 36-year-old Christopher T. Ward – out of the home. Ward was taken into custody without incident.

 

During the investigation officers learned from witnesses that Ward and another man, identified as 29-year-old Keiwan A Taylor of Harrisburg, were both seen shooting guns in the direction of each other. Officers later located Taylor at a home on North Jackson St. where he too was taken into custody without incident.

 

Ward was informally charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm without the requisite FOID card.

 

Taylor was informally charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon without the requisite FOID card.

 

Both men were lodged at the Saline County Detention Center.

 

The Saline County Sheriff’s Department, the Eldorado Police Department and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services assisted at the scene.
