Two fatal crashes, on involving a pedestrian, occurred over the weekend in Marion County.

  1. 65-year-old John Collum of Iuka was traveling southbound on Selmaville Road just before 10am at Red Stripe Road when he drove off the roadway and struck a tree. Collum was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

  1. The other crash took place Saturday on old Highway 51 just north of Community Beach Road. Preliminary details indicate 31-year-old Nicholas Riel of Centralia was lying in the roadway in the northbound lane when a Chevy Impala, driven by 37-year-old Craig A. Taylor of Junction City ran Riel over around 3am. This crash is under investigation by the Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit and Zone 7 Investigations.
