Two People Arrested in Connection With Incident That Sent One Person to St. Louis Hospital

MT. VERNON — Mt. Vernon police have arrested two subjects in connection with an incident early Thursday morning that sent one person to a St. Louis area hospital with multiple injuries, some of them severe.

18-year-old Cody Harrington and a juvenile were arrested for alleged aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

According to MVPD, at approximately 4:15 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to the area of Eighth Street and Jordan on a report of a subject being struck by a vehicle.

Officers made contact with a juvenile victim who reported the bike being stuck in the vehicle that struck him.

The victim was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital before being transferred to a St. Louis Hospital. Upon medical examination the victim was found to have a stab wound in the back.

An MVPD Crime Scene Detective and Accident Reconstructionists responded to investigate the scene.

During the investigation information and evidence were developed which lead detectives to two offenders.

The investigation is ongoing.
