SALINE COUNTY — Two Saline County residents and an Illinois State Police trooper were involved in a two-vehicle injury crash just after 6 Wednesday night in Saline County.

According to Illinois State Police, the trooper’s SUV was going north on U.S. 45, just south of Maple Street, in Muddy when the SUV 59-year-old Tammy A. Wilkins was driving was pulling out of the Dave Angelly Body Shop onto U.S. 45 south and entered the trooper’s path.

The trooper was not able to stop in time and struck Wilkins’ SUV in the driver’s side. Both vehicles were severely damaged and towed away from the scene.

Wilkins and her passenger, 38-year-old Justin W. Agin of Harrisburg, and the trooper were taken by ambulance to a local hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Wilkins was later transferred to a regional hospital due to her injuries. The trooper’s name was not released.

ISP says charges are pending investigation.
