Pritzker Says Budget Will Boost Mental Health Treatment

CHICAGO (RFD) — Governor J.B. Pritzker says it’s the dawn of a new era for Illinoisans needing mental health treatment. In a visit this week to the Kennedy Forum’s Annual Meeting in Chicago, Pritzker touted the benefits of the recently passed state budget, which provides an $80 million increase for mental health and addiction treatment.

Pritzker says two-thirds of those struggling with mental health issues don’t get the help they need. He says the state is now attacking a backlog of mental health cases.

Governor Pritzker estimates one in five Illinoisans are struggling with a mental health problem.
