ILLINOIS (RFD) — Only a handful of farms in Illinois grow lavender, the popular herb some people believe relieves inflammation, headaches and other ailments. Despite this spring’s excessive rainfall, the Shawnee Hills Lavender Farm has opened for you-pick business in downstate Union County. Charlotte Clover and her husband allow throngs to pick lavender on their farm for five-dollars a bunch;

The lavender farm sits along the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail. Clover says they have people come from Chicago and St. Louis to hand-pick lavender;

The Shawnee Hills Lavender Farm even serves lavender lemonade. It’s open today through Sunday and next weekend too, June 14th through 16th.
