CENTRAL CITY — A 24-year-old Central City man pleaded guilty Thursday in Marion County court to residential burglary stemming from a 2017 home invasion where he was shot in the abdomen by the homeowner.

Jamar Young was sentenced Thursday to four-years in prison for the Class 1 felony charge.

In exchange for his guilty plea, a Class X felony charge of home invasion and a Class 1 felony charge of discharging a weapon into an occupied structure were dismissed.

Young was one of four males who reportedly entered a home in the 900 block of East Broadway in July 2017 that resulted in an exchange of gunfire with the homeowner.

During the exchange, Young was struck in the abdomen and a 16-year-old male was struck in the groin.

Both were airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment. Young reportedly left the hospital before being arrested and wasn’t taken into custody until almost a year later.

Two other adult males arrested in the case, James Powers and Bryce Bradley, have pleaded guilty and been sentenced.

In addition to the four-year prison sentence, Young will have to serve 2-years mandatory supervised release.
