MT. VERNON — The annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics of Illinois starts Monday and will be coming through Mt. Vernon that afternoon. Law enforcement are expected to bring the torch through town from south to north on Route 37 around 2:30 p.m.

Chuck Mattmiller with the Law Enforcement Torch Run has been involved with the organization for many years. He says helping these athletes is very special to him.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is on track to raise five million dollars for Special Olympics of Illinois this year.
